DVT Diaries

Foreword:Melanie Bloom's Foreword

Melanie Bloom

This story is part of the DVT Diaries, a collection of personal accounts of experiences with deep-vein thrombosis or DVT. Some of the authors are well-known figures; others are people just like you. Their diverse backgrounds and experiences prove that DVT can strike almost anyone at any age and because of any of a number of risk factors.

It is my hope that by presenting these stories, we can raise awareness so that other individuals will not have to suffer the heartbreaking loss that my family and so many others have. We have already made significant strides, thanks to everyone who is helping to drive this effort: America's health care professionals, public policy leaders, members of the media and the more than 40 organizations that make up the Coalition to Prevent DVT. And we couldn't have done it without people like the ones featured in these diaries, who are educating their families, friends and neighbors every day.

I invite you to check this section of the Coalition to Prevent DVT site frequently for the latest inspiring stories. If you have a DVT story to tell, please write to us — by sharing what you've learned, you can make a difference in the lives of millions of people!

Best Wishes,
